WORK EXPERIENCE

Since 2009 I have gained invaluable experience in a number of TV and radio newsrooms, both regional and national. There's more information about each placement below.

BBC Radio Sheffield, October 2010 and February 2011 – July 2011:

• Finding original stories, developing contacts and transforming creative ideas into content for broadcast; including packages, wraps and clips for Breakfast, Drive-time and news bulletins.

Sheffield Live! (community radio station), June 2008 – July 2011:

• Presenting and producing a daily hour-long magazine news radio programme.

Real Radio, Yorkshire News Team, March 2011:
• Finding and initiating original stories, one of which led a morning of news bulletins.
• Being ambitious and tenacious which meant I gained an exclusive interview with Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, which was used for broadcast.

Hallam FM, News Team, November 2010:
• Generating news stories: researching contacts, interviewing and producing multi-platform content.

Bradford Community Broadcasting, June 2010:
• Multi-skilling as part of a small news team to produce hourly news bulletins, whilst creating online content and videos and updating social networking sites.

Election Reporter: BBC Radio Leeds, May 2010:
• Working under pressure to help cover local election counts at Leeds Central, processing information quickly and communicating it accurately and efficiently to a live Presenter.

RADIO

YTV, Calendar, September 2009, July 2010, December 2010:
• Attending editorial meetings, interviewing, pitching original story ideas and researching.

ITN, ITV News, November – December 2010:
• Planning: organising filming opportunities, including the location for an exclusive interview with Gordon Brown, researching information for news output and contributing to the daily handover.

Leeds Today, (online TV news programme), July 2010:
• Producing lunchtime news bulletins and a daily half-hour magazine news programme, taking on the different roles of Video Journalist, News Editor, Producer and Presenter.

Researcher: BBC Politics Show (Yorkshire), February 2010:
• Being determined and motivated to carry out in-depth research with minimal supervision.

BBC Look North Leeds, January 2010:
• Researching ideas, contacts and archive material for news bulletins and programmes.

Visualis, TV Meadowhall, September – October 2009
• Pitching imaginative ideas for the Supermall programme and organising filming opportunities.

Sky News, Skynews.com TV programme, August 2009:
• Experience using my initiative to find and brief interviewees, research and script for Presenters.
